MIAMI — A big stride was taken in regard to Hanley Ramirez returning to the lineup.
The Marlins’ All-Star shortstop took batting practice Sunday afternoon before the home season finale with the Phillies.
Ramirez is hopeful of being available to pinch-hit on Sunday, and be back in the starting lineup on Monday when Florida faces the Reds in Cincinnati in a makeup of a May 15 rainout.
Last Wednesday, Ramirez strained his left shoulder against the Astros. He has been out of the starting lineup for four straight games.
The 24-year-old remains one of the biggest impact players in the league, batting .298 with 32 home runs, 119 runs scored and 33 stolen bases. He is the second Marlins player to have a 30-30 season.
