Question:
What was it like getting a chance to be part of the Home Run Derby?
Answer:
It was great because we were all supporting each other and proud to be raising money for the Girls and Boys Club. It’s a fun competition with friends. I went in thinking that I was going to try as hard as I can and keep my eye on Cabrera and Ortiz.
Question:
Your bright teal cleats with Mickey Mouse ears were the talk of the All-Star game. Are we going to see more of those?
Answer:
Definitely! It was great that they got so much attention. Since we were in Anaheim, I had to give Mickey a shout-out. They are actually part of my new H2R line by Boombah that will include T-Shirts, pullovers, and graphic tees.
Question:
What’s it like to have so much support from the Marlin’s fans and be the club’s only player to be voted by the fans into the starting lineup in the All-Star game more than once?
Answer:
It’s a good feeling. The fans are great and very supportive. It was an honor to represent the National League, Marlins, and Florida fans. I’m so happy and thankful to be able to play with the greatest players in the league right now. I try to keep working every year, every second, every day and I think the fans see that. Since you never really know when it will be your last day on the field, you have to do the best you can every day.
Question:
Who is an MLB player you look up to?
Answer:
When I was in Boston I got to hang out with David Ortiz a lot. He has a big heart and is one of the best guys I know. He mentored me and now he’s like a father to me.
Question:
If you did't play baseball professionally, what would you be doin?
Answer:
I’ve always wanted to be a movie star! But I’m actually getting into fashion right now with my new H2R line, and I really enjoy it. Hopefully I can do both baseball and fashion at the same time. My movie career might have to wait though!
