Q and A with Hanley
Q: Does the fact that everybody wrote off the Marlins this year because they had a small payroll give you extra motivation? (Tommy, Key Biscane)
A: Yeah it does. It gives us more energy. We want to show everybody that we can play this game. That’s why we are here. It doesn’t matter about payroll. What we care about is the way we go out there and play hard every day. It’s what we have been doing, & what we are going to keep doing all year.
Q: Those two shots you hit out to center the other day were bombs! Does your power ever surprise you? (Charlie)
A: A bit at times. I think I was struggling a bit the previous couple of days so I was just trying to be patient at home plate. I was waiting for my pitch and trying to hit it hard somewhere. When it goes out like that to center it’s something you don’t really expect.
Q: When a pitcher is working quickly on the mound does that change your defensive approach? (Miguel, Santo Domingo)
A: Yeah it does in a sense. When you have a pitcher working quickly, like a Scott Olsen, you really have to focus and keep your mind on the game more. You have to keep your concentration better so that you can be ready for each pitch. It helps you stay in the game.
