Hanley Answers Fans Questions
Hanley recently answered a number of questions submitted through the site by fans. If you have a question make sure to enter it and Hanley might answer your question next!
Q: What are you doing to improve your fielding to put it on par with your offense? At your level, what can you really do to get better at defense?
A: You can always improve your defense. Getting better is something you have to strive for at every level of the game. For me personally, I focus on my feet positioning and just try to get as many reps as possible. That’s the best way to get better.
Q: How do you balance being a leader at such a young age and showing proper respect to the veterans in the clubhouse?
A: As a young player, you have to know your role. That includes always showing respect to the veterans. The guys that have been in the league for a while deserve that. As far as me being a leader, I try to to lead by exemplary conduct and good work habits. Leading by example speaks for itself. I work hard, which in turns sets a tone for others to follow. That in a sense makes me a leader despite the fact that I am a young player.
Q: Who’s the toughest pitcher you’ve ever faced?
A: Jake Peavy is the toughest pitcher I’ve gone up against. He throws hard, can locate his pitches, and he keeps you off balance.
