Hanley Ramirez has his sights on returning to the Marlins on Wednesday, and to the same place where he got injured earlier this month.
The three-time All-Star sprained his left shoulder trying to make a diving, over-the-shoulder catch in shallow left field Aug. 2 against the Mets at Citi Field, and came out of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Ramirez was initially listed as day-to-day, but went on the 15-day disabled list on Aug. 10 when he had yet to make much progress.
The left shoulder is the same one on which Ramirez had arthroscopic surgery after the 2007 season in order to repair torn labrum tissue.
“It was bad because that’s the first time it came out after the surgery, so it’s not the same,” Ramirez said on Saturday. “It never felt that way after it came out before. I knew there was something wrong.”
It took a couple of weeks before Ramirez could begin swinging again. He was told to “rest and wait for the inflammation to go down.”
