Hanley in line for All-Star three-peat

Hanley Ramirez is primed for a three-peat.

In the final stretch of the All-Star voting process, Ramirez has a comfortable — if not insurmountable — lead in the race to be the National League starting shortstop.

If Ramirez again is the choice of the fans, it will mark his third straight season being the NL starting shortstop.

Ramirez already is the only Marlin ever to be picked to start in the game twice. The 26-year-old holds a lead over Philadelphia’s Jimmy Rollins with time winding down.

Along with Ramirez, second baseman Dan Uggla is the only other Marlin to rank among the league leaders at his respective position. Uggla is third in the balloting behind Philadelphia’s Chase Utley (who is way out in front) and Atlanta’s Martin Prado.

Fans can cast their votes for starters up to 25 times at MLB.com and all 30 club sites using the 2010 All-Star Game MLB.com Ballot sponsored by Sprint until Thursday, July 1 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Sprint subscribers can now vote on the go with select Sprint devices. They can learn more about how to vote on their smart phones at MLB.com/Sprint.

Starting rosters will be announced during the 2010 All-Star Game Selection Show on TBS on Sunday, July 4. Baseball fans around the world will then be able to select the final player on each team via the 2010 All-Star Game Final Vote sponsored by Sprint.
