The Marlins are finally getting what they have been waiting for since they joined the MLB: a stadium to call their own. The Marlins have reached an agreement to construct at 37,000 seat, retractable roof stadium on the grounds of the Orange Bowl. The agreement secures the future of baseball in South Florida, and allows the Marlins to start planning for the future.
“I think it’s terrific. It’s absolutely terrific,” said Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria, who purchased the team in 2002. “We now have certainty that baseball stays in South Florida.”
There are still details to be worked out, but the agreement in principal has been agreed upon.
