Hanley Ramirez was chosen as the Marlins’ Most Valuable Player for 2009 by members of the Miami chapter of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. Ramirez becomes the first three-time winner of the annual award, given to the teams best player that season.
Hanley leads the National League in hitting, has driven in more than 100 runs and has improved defensively.
``It’s not about one guy,’‘ said Ramirez, who also won the team MVP award for each of the two previous seasons. ``I feel happy with how we’ve done as a team, and I feel happy I could help.’‘
“I’m pretty happy with what we’ve done as a team together,” said Ramirez. “We’re still in the race. We’ve got a chance.”
