Hanley named NL Co-Player of the Week

Florida Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez and San Diego Padres pitcher Chad Gaudin have been named National League Co-Players of the Week presented by Bank of America for the period ending June 28th. Last week, Ramirez led the National League with 15 RBI and 22 total bases, tied for first with three home runs and ranked third with a .846 slugging percentage. The 25-year-old Ramirez hit .385 (10-26) and posted a .429 on-base percentage with three doubles, two stolen bases and five runs scored. The 2006 N.L. Rookie of the Year connected for his second and third grand slams of the season and his career on June 23rd and June 25th vs. Baltimore. In Interleague Play, Ramirez led Major League Baseball with 24 RBI and he paced N.L. players with 24 hits. Ramirez (.333, 12 HR, 51 RBI, 11 SB), the N.L.‘s starting shortstop in the 2008 All-Star Game, is currently bidding for his second straight start in the Midsummer Classic, leading balloting at his position. This marks Hanley’s second career weekly honor (previous: 7/8/07).
